Versata Logic Server Process Logic Engine
|
The Versata Logic Servers Process Logic Engine extends the power of automated business logic into complete workflows that coordinate human activities with chains of rule-enabled transactions to ensure that designated users perform tasks in a defined sequence and, if necessary, within a defined timeframe.
The result is enhanced business control, visibility, escalation and exception processing for enterprise applications.
To enact a workflow, the Versata Process Logic Engine processes each step in the plan as it schedules and assigns activities. Activities are assigned to activity agents which can include human participants or an automated systems. As each activity is completed, the Versata Process Logic Engine consults the sequencing elements or transitions flowing from that activity to determine which activities should be started next.
Transitions are the essential flow elements of the process logic. Transitions can include branching decisions to implement conditional process rules. These branch decisions can be simple rules based on the status of workflow objects, or can be based on external data sources-including data contained in Versata transactional objects.
The Versata Process Logic Engine records information about the performance of the activities in an audit log so reports of work performance and analysis metrics can be produced. It can also embed monitors into a process, allowing process-specific measurement points and milestones to log specific information when executed. The use of monitors provides a powerful mechanism for gathering meaningful business process metrics allowing more detailed process analysis.
