ProjectCompanion is a project
support system for teams working in dynamic environments.
It is designed to support improved project results, shorter
lead times, reduced costs, improved customer and employee
satisfaction - and increased revenue - in project-intensive
organizations.
The Standard Edition provides enterprise functionality
to small organizations, or departments within larger organizations
- at a reasonable cost. It is ideal for small consulting
organizations or IT-departments / product development departments.
The team member tools (web tool and Palm OS application)
can be used over the Internet. The administrator tools (management
console and report tool) require a local area network. That
is, the Standard Edition is best when administrators can
work with the system from the local area network. For small
installations, this can be a simple arrangement, such as
a computer connected to the Internet through a broadband
modem. Since a local area network is needed, it is not possible
to directly host the Standard Edition at an application
service provider.
The Standard Edition is suited for a limited number of
users, since it is based on a low cost database alternative.
Microsoft Access is well suited for limited transaction
volumes. However, it is not recommended to use Microsoft
Access databases in applications with many simultaneous
users. The database thus has a limit on scalability, stability
and data integrity. Microsoft recommends a maximum of 15
users.
The Standard Edition provides an ideal alternative for
improving the information infrastructure for project work
without heavy investments. It can be upgraded to the Professional
Edition using an upgrade package. In other words, it is
possible to start using the ProjectCompanion Standard Edition,
and upgrade when transaction volumes increase.

The installer will set up the system automatically on your
computer with a Microsoft Access database. Start IIS before
installation. Log in to the system using the admin account,
with password admin.
